Hello and welcome to a new and exciting year with the Friends of the AWE!  My name is Jennifer Thomas and I am the membership chair.

Friends of the AWE is an organization benefiting the Arkansas Women of Essence through the development of volunteer programs, fundraising activities, and cultivation of advocates for AWE.  Friends of the AWE provide behind the scenes help, allowing the Arkansas Women of Essence to direct its resources in serving the State of Arkansas through charitable events.  We need volunteers willing to give their skills and talents and a little of their time to promote the mission of the organization.

AWE asks each member to pay annual dues of $50.00 the first year you sign up and $25.00 each following year provided you meet the criteria set forth by the organization.  This is strictly a volunteer role but AWE is hoping that you take it as seriously as we do.  Although you are free to participate as you would like, there are some mandatory events and quotas that you will have to attend/meet as a member:

  1. Valentine's Day dance in February
  2. Annual Yard Sale in April or May
  3. One mandatory meeting prior to the event (Oct. or Nov.)
  4. Attend and assist with the November event
  5. Sell a minimum of $50.00 in event tickets or raffle tickets for November's event

(This includes the cost of your $25.00 ticket to the event)

The great benefit of being a Friend of AWE is having the opportunity to help needy citizens and other non-profit organizations in Arkansas and your assistance is greatly needed. 

Monetarily you will be responsible for:

  1. $10.00 name badge
  2. $50.00 dues the first year $25.00 the second year
  3. $15.00 for the Valentine's Day dance ticket
  4. $25.00 for your event ticket (you will not have to pay this if you attend the mandatory events as set forth above and raise an extra $25.00 for the November event)   You will then receive credit for your ticket from your $50.00 dues.

Although we are not asking much from you, we want you to think seriously about this commitment before signing up.   We want to be able to count on you at each of our four functions because you all as "Friends" are the backbone of this organization and you are needed in order for our events to be successful. 

If you are still interested and we hope that you are,  you can sign up by completing the attached membership form.  Please make checks for the $50.00 dues payable to AWE.

The Friends of AWE are excited about the upcoming year and hope that you will join us to make it even better.  Everyone has some skills and talents.  AWE needs yours!  AWE needs YOU!
